Position Overview

We are looking for an Underwriting Supervisor to oversee the daily activities and performance of the Underwriting team. The Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining an efficient workflow, monitoring team performance, supporting employee development, and ensuring that established quality and productivity standards are consistently met.

The role requires a solid understanding of underwriting processes, policies, and procedures in order to effectively guide the team, identify operational issues, and provide appropriate support. The Supervisor will focus on managing and supporting the underwriting team rather than making underwriting decisions independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Underwriting team and ensure work is properly assigned and prioritized.

• Monitor workload, staffing coverage, productivity, turnaround times, and overall team performance.

• Track individual and team KPIs and identify performance gaps or recurring operational issues.

• Provide regular coaching, feedback, and guidance to team members to support their professional development.

• Conduct team meetings and one-on-one discussions when required.

• Ensure team members follow established underwriting policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality standards.

• Support the team in resolving workflow-related questions and operational challenges.

• Work closely with Quality Management and Quality Assurance teams to identify recurring errors and support corrective actions.

• Maintain a strong understanding of the underwriting process and workflow in order to effectively supervise the team.

• Escalate complex operational or performance-related matters to management when necessary.

• Prepare regular updates and performance reports covering KPIs, productivity, quality, and team-related matters.

• Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency, workflow, consistency, and quality.

• Communicate changes in procedures, policies, processes, and company expectations to team members.

• Support the onboarding and training of new employees and help ensure they are properly integrated into the team.

• Assist with scheduling, workload distribution, attendance, and staffing coordination.

• Maintain accurate records related to team performance and productivity.

• Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

• Perform other duties related to the position as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field is preferred.

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience, with previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.

• Experience in financial services, banking, lending, credit, underwriting, or a similar environment is an advantage.

• Good understanding of underwriting processes, policies, guidelines, and workflows.

• C1 level of English, both written and spoken.

• Strong leadership and people-management skills.

• Ability to coach, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Strong understanding of KPIs, productivity metrics, and performance monitoring.

• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Ability to identify issues, take appropriate action, and escalate matters when necessary.

• Familiarity with U.S. business practices and working culture is an advantage.
